History Archive of the Anglican Church of Korea

History Archive of the Anglican Church of Korea. The importance of the archive is inextricably related to the mission and history of the Church. Public-oriented rather than an individual church-centered, the Anglican Church of Korea has devoted itself to fulfilling the true spirit of the Gospel by serving the most needy and the most forgotten in society. Running the archive therefore amounts to not only collecting the past records of the Church, but also in preserving and reflecting upon the commitment of the Church towards our society. The objective of the archive is three-fold: first, the collecting of records and materials on the Church since the beginning of its mission in the 1890s; second, the maintenance and continuation of the legacy of the Church for the future generation; and third, the preparation for the eventual establishment of the Museum of the Anglican Faith in Korea in Ganghwa Island, the birthplace of the Anglican mission in the country. The archive not only possesses rare collections of material on the early Anglican mission in Korea, but also books, periodicals and letters in the Western, Chinese and Japanese languages. Among the collection are rarely seen photographic prints and church costumes dating back from the late 19thcentury.
